PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for producing a hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate, wherein a homogeneous catalyst composed of a chromium(Cr) compound and an iron(Fe) compound, is improved in catalyst performances and is soluble in a reaction solution. SOLUTION: In this method for producing the hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate by reacting (meth)acrylate with an alkylene oxide in the presence of a catalyst, the catalyst is homogeneous and composed of the chromium(Cr) compound and/or the iron(Fe) compound, and at least one compound selected from yttrium(Y) compounds, lanthanum(La) compounds, cerium(Cr) compounds, tungsten(W) compounds, zirconium(Zr) compounds, titanium(Ti) compounds, vanadium(V) compounds, phosphorus(P) compounds, aluminum(Al) compounds, and molybdenum(Mo) compounds and is soluble in the reaction solution.
