Water-soluble or -dispersible hot-melt adhesive containing 20-80 wt% of a polymer obtained by the graft copolymerization of olefinically unsaturated monomers on polyalkylene oxide, together with 10-70 wt% resin and optionally other components. Water-soluble or -dispersible hot-melt adhesives (I) based on water-soluble, water-dispersible or alkali-soluble polymers (A) obtained by the graft copolymerization of olefinically unsaturated monomers on polyalkylene oxides. (I) contain (A) 20-80 wt.% component (A), (B) 0-70 wt.% polyester(s), polyurethane(s), polyalkyl (meth)acrylate(s), acrylic acid homo- or co-polymer(s) and/or vinyl polymer(s), (C) 10-70 wt.% resin(s), (D) 0-30 wt.% plasticiser(s) and (E) 0-3 wt.% conventional additive(s), etc.. An Independent claim is also included for a method for the production of (I) by mixing the (optional) components (B), (C), (D) and (E) at 120-180 deg C to form a homogeneous melt, then adding (A) and homogenizing by stirring.
