The structural element is formed from a single sheet metal plate (1) provided with a double-T cut-out (28), with bending along defined fold lines (3,5,8,10,14,15,16,20,21,22) for obtaining transverse and longitudinal frame arms having a hollow profile cross-section. The width (C) of the centre part (29) of the cut-out is altered for determining the width of the structural element. An Independent claim for a manufacturing method for a structural element for an apparatus frame or housing is also included.
