PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a novel display form wherein the color and the pattern of a pointer are changed following the movement of the pointer, in a liquid crystal display device formed by combining a liquid crystal panel as a background display board and a rotary pointer which is mechanically driven and used for a meter panel and the like. SOLUTION: The pointer 20 is formed by using a transparent body and a polarizing plate 22 for decoration wherein the color and/or the pattern are changed in accordance with the rotation of the pointer 20 in the relation to the axis of polarization of a polarizing plate on the liquid crystal panel 10 side is attached to the transparent body.
