PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a refractive index distribution being difficult to measure it in a large-diametric optical fiber base material. SOLUTION: The deflection angle of transmitted light is measured, while changing it in the order of a light-transmitting position to the optical fiber base material, ranging over from a radial end part of the base material to a core/clad interface at the opposite side of the end part with the core center therebetween. Then, the core center is found, based on the found deflection angle. The deflection angle of the transmitted light of which the transmitting position is between the radial end part, the found core center is specified thereafter, and this is analyzed to find the refractive index distribution. |
