PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent unevenness in alignment regulating force from being generated by making rubbing density constant. SOLUTION: A controller 124 variably controlling the rubbing condition in accordance with the rubbing roll temperature Tr of a rubbing roll 112 when rubbing treatment is performed is provided. The controller 124 controls the number f of rotation of the roll, a pushing quantity M of the roll and circumstance temperature T to be at prescribed fixed values in response to a desired rubbing density RS. The controller 124 performs rubbing treatment to the alignment layer in the uniform rubbing density RS, even when the rubbing roll temperature Tr is changed by frictional heat, residence and the like, by veriably controlling the feeding speed V in accordance with the rubbing roll temperature Tr in each rubbing position X. |
