PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for quickly measuring a polarization-dependent parameter of an optical device. SOLUTION: For quickly measuring a polarization-dependent parameter of an optical device under test(DUT (30)) a light source (10) generates a variable-wavelength optical stimulation signal, a polarization translator (20) translates the polarizing condition of the light stimulation signal fed from the light source (10) by a deterministic means depending on the wavelength of the light stimulation signal at its input and output. A photodetector (40) receives an optical response signal from the DUT (30) to the applied light stimulation signal. An analyzer (60) analyzes the optical response signal taken for different wavelengths to obtain the value of a polarization-dependent parameter of the DUT (30).
