The present invention is directed toward determining a Coronary Flow Reserve (CFR) value for a stenosed blood vessel by way of pressure measurements acquisitioned proximal a stenosis in a stenosed blood vessel and distal thereto both at rest and at hyperemia in accordance with the relationship CFR alpha (DELTAPhyper, DELTAPrest) where DELTAPhyper and DELTAPrest are the pressure gradients across the stenosis at rest and at hyperemia, respectively.
