PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brace construction equipped with a friction damper which offers stable performance and excellent workability permitting easy assembly of a framework of a building without degrading the appearance of its portion exposed to the outside. SOLUTION: A plurality of plate members 34 and 40 are overlapped together and jointed with bolts 46 in a movable and mutually sliding manner, and a friction damper 30 is constituted by providing a counter-sunk spring 50a for exerting a pressuring forces to the overlapped portions. Plate members 34 and 40 which are pressured each other are attached with the coupling portions 36 equipped to the end portions at the opposite sides in the load acting direction. In the whole region between both the coupling portion 36, a plurality of bolts 46 and counter-sunk springs 50a are equipped. The outer periphery of the friction damper 30 is covered with a steel pipe 56.
