PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data read method, capable of reading, at a low cost and at a high speed, data of a radiolabeling material included in a sample, for labeling the sample, a labeling material for generating chemiluminescence by bringing into contact with a fluorescent material and/or a chemiluminescent substrate, or the like, and completing quantitative analysis in a short time based on the read data. SOLUTION: In this data read method, a sample 10, having plural sport regions 12 formed mutually separately on a substrate and including selectively the labeling material, is scanned, and the light emitted from the plural spot regions is detected photoelectrically, to thereby generate the data. The method generates the data, by detecting photoelectrically light emitted from a region having a larger width in the direction perpendicular to the main scanning direction than that in the direction perpendicular to the main scanning direction of the spot region.
