PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flow rate measuring instrument using an underground ball type hydrant and capable of investigating the flow rate, flow velocity, flow direction, rust lump, air bubbles, residual matter or the like in a tap water distribution pipe using common water. SOLUTION: The insertion rod 1 inserted in a water distribution pipe 73 in a watertight state from the hydrant 70, a holding means 2 for positioning the insertion rod 1 with respect to the hydrant 70, and the flow rate sensor 3 arranged to the leading end of the insertion rod 1, are provided. By this constitution, the flow rate, flow velocity and flow direction in the tap water distribution pipe can be investigated using common water.
