PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for detecting the angle of rotation capable of preventing the occurrence of error control by speedily determining the output of error angle setting signals and halting the output of error angle setting signals. SOLUTION: The device for detecting the angle of rotation is provided with a rotation angle detector 1 for detecting angle detection signals corresponding to the state of rotation of a rotor in a short cycle and supplying them for a control part 2, the control unit 2 for computing the angle detection signals to form angle setting signals and supplying the angle setting signals for a mechanism to be controlled 7 via a controller 6, and a storage part 3 for temporarily storing absolute angles obtained by computing a plurality of the newest supplied angle detection signals and storing an allowable maximum angular velocity. The control unit 2 sets the output cycle of the angle setting signals in a longer cycle than the detection cycle of the angle detection signals, computes the angular velocity from two absolute angles read from the storage part 3 at the time when the two absolute angles are obtained, compares the computed angular velocity with the allowable maximum angular velocity, and outputs an anomaly signal instead of the angle setting signals when the computed angular velocity exceeds the allowable maximum angular velocity.
