A system and a method for automatically submitting Web pages to a search engine, which is preferably used for submitting dynamic Web pages, but may optionally be used for any type of Web page. According to the present invention, an embedded object is inserted into the Web page, which causes the URL of that Web page to be automatically sent to a Web server when that Web page is loaded by a Web browser. The Web server can then optionally automatically send the received URLs to the search engine, or alternatively, the autonomous software search program could retrieve the received URLs from the Web server. The embedded object itself is preferably inserted as code which is suitable for execution according to a Web-based protocol, such as by a Web browser and/or Web server, for example. There is also provided a system and a method for converting each URL or other Web page address into a normalized form. |
