The holder (1) to fit a machine component (2) in a housing (3), and especially a gear shaft bearing in the vehicle gearbox, has a threaded section (4) to hold it in place. At least one recess (7,8) is at least at one side (5) of the holder, and particularly at a flat side, in a ring shape around the axis (6) of the threaded section. The recess has a V-shape or semi-circular cross section. The recess height (t) is at least 3% of the thickness (b) of the holder body, and preferably at least 5%.
