PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device wherein stable alignment of liquid crystals can be realized and thereby satisfactory display can be obtained. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with a pair of substrates, a liquid crystal interposed between the pair of substrates and alignment layers provided on the inner surface sides of the substrates, and the alignment layers consist of a mixture of a polyamic acid containing a diamine component and a polyimide containing a diamine component different from the diamine component of the polyamic acid and are subjected to an alignment treatment by UV irradiation.
