PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical switch which can surely detect the position of a movable member holding an optical element which is made to advance to an optical waveguide. SOLUTION: The optical switch is provided with a light source and an optical sensor, and the optical sensor detects the light from the light source which passes through the optical element, and the position of the movable member is discriminated from the amount of light received by the optical sensor, where the amount of light is determined in accordance with the characteristics of the optical element. It is also possible to adopt a configuration, in which the position of the movable member is detected using external light modified by the action of the optical element, while omitting the light source, or another configuration in which an optical element for position determination is provided in the movable member, in addition to the optical element which modifies the external light. |
