PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiency operate a dehumidifier for the prevention of dew formation. SOLUTION: In the dehumidifier, an air supply route is formed by arranging an evaporator, a condenser, and a supply fan between the air inlet and air outlet of an enclosure, and a refrigerating circuit is formed by connecting a compressor to the evaporator, condenser, etc., through refrigerant pipelines. A heater is provided in the air supply route, and the air sucked through the air inlet by operating the supply fan is heated by means of the condenser or the condenser and heater after the air is caused to make dew formation by cooling the air by means of the evaporator and discharged from the air outlet as dry air. In addition, a humidity sensor and a heat exchanger sensor which detects the temperature of the evaporator are provided between the air inlet and evaporator. The dehumidifier is provided with an operation mode in which the compressor is ON-OFF operated at a prestored first set humidity for a prescribed period of time after the dehumidifier is started to operate. When the prescribed period of time has elapsed, the compressor is ON-OFF operated at a second set humidity higher than the first set humidity, and the temperature detected by means of the heat exchanger sensor is compared with a preset temperature. When the heat exchanger temperature detected by means of the sensor is lower than the preset temperature, the heater is operated.
