PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for inspecting cut workpieces capable of highly accurately detecting only helical grooves even if recessed and protruded parts except the helical grooves to be originally detected exist. SOLUTION: Cut surfaces of a cut workpiece 1 cut and machined in a continuous, helical, and circular shape are inputted to an image input means 4. Variable density changes of the image data are highlighted by a specific frequency component by an image highlighting means 51 and subjected to two-dimensional orthogonal transformation into spatial frequency data by a two-dimensional orthogonal transformation means 52. Then spatial frequency analysis is performed on the spatial frequency data by a frequency analysis means 53 to detect a helical pattern formed by a specific pitch and determine the presence or absence of anomalies in the cut surfaces of the cut workpiece 1 from the helical pattern.
