PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerating cycle system and an air conditioner for motor vehicles, which prevents lowering of cooling capacity of a main evaporator by suppressing refrigerant from staying in a sub-evaporator at the time when the main evaporator is principally operated, in a condition where a thermostatic expansion valve is employed as an expansion valve. SOLUTION: The refrigerating cycle system in which the sub-evaporator 16 is connected to the main evaporator 15 in parallel is provided with the expansion valve 14 for expanding refrigerant that flows into the sub-evaporator 16. The expansion valve 14 serves as the thermostatic expansion valve 14 which opens and closes in accordance with the superheating degree of refrigerant at the outlet of the sub-evaporator 16. A refrigerant inlet 161 of the sub- evaporator 16 is provided at the lower side of the sub-evaporator 16. This refrigerating cycle system is applied to the air conditioner for a motor vehicle which is provided with a front seat air conditioning unit 17 and a rear seat air conditioning unit 18.
