PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of determining the statistical characteristics of a heterogeneous reflector. SOLUTION: This device is constituted as follow: the device is equipped with one or more illumination means for radiating light to a measuring surface and one or more detection means for recoding light reflected from the measuring surface; at least one of the detection means is equipped with plural photosensitive sensor means, and measured values characteristic to light received by each sensor means can be emitted from respective sensor means; the device is also equipped with one or more memory means, having one or more first prescribed thresholds and one or more control means equipped with one or more processing means for controlling measurement sequence; the measurement sequence can be controlled by the control means, so as to assign the measured value by the sensor means to a first surface type, when the measured value by the sensor means exceeds the first threshold; and the control means can determine one or more statistical parameters for characterizing the first surface type.
