The cylinder (1) has a connection feeding hydraulic fluid to a chamber (3) under the piston (2). Belleville washers (6) fit in an annular chamber in the piston and press against a lid (5) with a conical central bore (12). The central bolt (7) fits in the central bore and has a cylindrical portion and a shoulder which may be engaged by a set of balls (10) held in a cage (8). The cage is urged toward the lid by a stack of Belleville washers (9). The balls engage in a groove inside the central portion of the piston.
