An aqueous resin dispersion composition containing one or more kinds of resin particles and water, characterized by containing a nonionic surfactant in an amount accounting for 75 to 95% of the theoretical porosity of 26% for the resin particles arranged in the closest packing structure on the assumption that the resin particles are spheres each having the same volume as the primary average particle for the resin particles, and that the nonionic surfactant is nonvolatile in the temperature range up to 100°C and is a solvent which volatilizes or thermally decomposes at a temperature lower than the heat decomposition temperature of the resin particles. The composition can be applied thick and inhibited from suffering mud cracking.
