PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for molding a rubber roller which can curtail molding tact and improve the efficiency of heat energy during molding. SOLUTION: The method for forming a rubber layer made of a peroxide- vulcanized rubber material at least in the outermost layer of a roller substrate includes a process for forming an unvulcanized peroxide-vulcanized rubber layer on the outside surface of the roller substrate, a process in which the roller is inserted into a cylindrical regulation member low in heat capacity, and a process in which the peroxide-vulcanized rubber material is vulcanized by using the difference in thermal expansion coefficient between the roller and the regulation member by heating while the rubber material is completely contacted with the inner surface of the regulation member.
