<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent degradation of a service life caused by a careless increase of light quantity of a light emitting element by suspending adjustment of emitted light quantity of an optical sensor for detecting presence of a paper. SOLUTION: Sheets of paper in a cassette 240 are double-fed by a pickup roller 209, and two sheets are detected by a reflection type optical paper detecting sensor 202. Then one of the sheets which are double-fed by a paper feeding roller 204 is separated to one sheet. Since another sheet is left to be detected by the reflection type optical paper detecting sensor 202, dimming operation of the reflection type optical sensor 202 is forbidden.</p> |
