PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition for an acidic hair dye having excellent dyeing effect and color lasting effect and improved touch of use. SOLUTION: This composition for an acidic hair dye comprises 0.01-10.0 mass % of an amino-modified or ammonium-modified polymer silicone represented by general formula (1) [R<1> is a methyl group or partially a phenyl group; R<2> and R<3> are the same or each a methyl group or a hydroxy group; R<3> is a substituent group represented by formula R<4> Z R<4> is a bifunctional alkylene group containing 3-6 carbon atoms; Z is -NR<5> 2 , -N<+> R<5> 3 A<-1> , -NR<5> (CH2 )a NR<5> 2 ,-NR<5> (CH2 )a N<+> R<5> 3 A<-> or -NR<5> (CH2 )a N(R<5> )C=O(R<6> )}; m+n is 3,000-20,000 and n/m is 1/500-1/10,000].
