PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hopper that has a simple configuration, can stably retain a gate in a closed-down state, and can also cope with a blocking trouble, and to provide a metering installation having the hopper. SOLUTION: A gate 13 that is rotatably supported at a hopper body 11 on a support axis 21 is energized in a closing direction constantly by a spring 22. Additionally, while a roller 33 is provided at a drive arm member 32 for rotating a motor 31, long and short upper and lower engagement shafts 24 and 25 are provided at an open arm member 23 that is fixed to the gate 13. Then, the gate 13 is opened by moving the upper engagement shaft 25 upward via the rotation of the roller 33. Conversely, while the gate is being closed, the open arm member 23 is rocked following the rotation of the roller 33. Then, when the gate 13 is closed, the roller 33 is fitted between both the engagement shafts 24 and 25, thus stably retaining the gate 13 in a close-down state.
