PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To favorably handle documents by a document separator by forming a document abutment surface of a shutter member into an inclined surface and projecting the upper side of the tip part of a sheet type document stacked on a document tray in the document carrier direction in an ADF(Automatic Document Feeder). SOLUTION: The shutter member 30 is disposed in a document set position of the ADF to regulate the tip surface when setting the document and when feeding paper by a pickup roller, the shutter member 30 is retreated to a non- operation position. The lower end portion of a shutter part 31 of the shutter member 30 regulating the document tip surface is stopped with its projected into a recessed part 6a provided in an inner guide 6 to be connected to the document tray and regulates the inclined angleθof the shutter part to an acute angle or an angleθ2 of the lower surface relative to a support board to an obtuse angle so as to regulate that the upper document first enters into the document separator, when setting the documents.
