The vessel has a separate outer jacket (11) made of elastic material which is pulled over the outer contour (12) of the vessel so that it completely conforms to it. The jacket completely or partially covers the top surface of the vessel and thereby acts as a heat insulator. The flexibility and elasticity of the outer jacket is such that the same size of jacket can be adapted to vessels of different shapes and sizes. The jacket has an opening (13) so that it can be slipped over the vessel.
