PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dry battery drive type valve opening meter and a dry battery type gate opening meter capable of accurately displaying the opening with digital display in hand even under the hard environment condition having a probability of being submerged. SOLUTION: An opening detecting means formed of a first gear 17 fixed to a vertical shaft 14 connected to a valve rod of a valve, a second gear 18 to be rotated around the rotation axis of a potentiometer 19 geared with the first gear 17, the potentiometer 19 and an electric signal cord 21 is sealed in a waterproof housing 11 having the waterproof sealed box structure. The waterproof housing 11 is fixed to the inner wall of an embedded pipe 4 or a valve body by a vibration stopper fitting 12. An opening detecting unit 22 and an opening display unit for displaying the number of revolution in hand are perfectly separated from each other. They are connected to each other through the electric signal cord 21 to transmit the opening to the opening display unit.
