A METHOD FOR SELECTIVE IMAGE ACQUISITION AND TRANSMISSION

A method of transmitting an image is disclosed. The method comprises transmitting from a mobile imaging device an entire image at a first resolution. The transmitted image is received and characteristics patterns contained therein are determined. An appropriate imaging algorithm is selected in accordance with the determined characteristic patterns. The mobile imaging device is commanded to re-transmit certain portions of the entire image in accordance with the selected imaging algorithm. Finally the certain portions are retransmitted from the mobile imaging device at a second resolution, which is substantially higher than said first resolution.
