The clamping ring has two or more clamping segments (21) with adjoining segments connected together by elastic spacers (30) which have shaped sections to engage in undercut sections (22) of the segments. An expanding mandrel (40) can be inserted in the region of the undercut sections to produce a force locking connection between the clamping segment and the spacer. Slide faces of a non-elastomer material can be provided between the mandrel and spacer, preferably in the form of a one-piece intermediate member.
