PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the service life of an electrolytic cell without rebuilding it, and reduce a cell building cost per unit production volume, by reducing a cost necessary for a prolonging work. SOLUTION: The electrolytic cell 10 has a releasable curtain wall 13a, which is attached from an upper side, for separating a region from a liquid level to the space thereabove, into two regions of an electrolysis chamber 11 side and a metal recovering chamber 12 side. The electrolytic method includes replacing the curtain wall 13a while retaining a molten salt 20 in the electrolytic cell 10, to recover the current efficiency and prolong the service life of the cell.
