PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a (thiophene/phenylene) cooligomer on an industrial scale at a low cost. SOLUTION: The (thiophene/phenylene) cooligomer expressed by general formula (3) ((n) is 1-5; and R is a 1-5C alkyl, a 1-5C alkenyl, H or a halogen atom) is produced by reacting a compound expressed by general formula (1) (X<1> and X<2> are each a halogen atom) with a phenylboronic acid expressed by general formula (2) in the presence of a base and a palladium catalyst.
