PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To selectively produce a multiple substituted benzene derivative and a multiple substituted pyridine derivative in one step reaction by using a metallacyclopentadiene having a derivative of a pentadienly group as a ligand. SOLUTION: The benzene derivative (1a) and the pyridine derivative (1b) are produced by reacting the metallacyclopentadiene (2) with a nitrile (3) (wherein R<1> to R<9> and A are each the same or different and express each H or a hydrocarbon residue; L expresses a ligand; M expresses a transition metal).
