PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new hydrocarbon compound suitable for a functional material, for example, a fluorescent material for an organic electroluminescent element. SOLUTION: This compound is expressed by general formula (1). [X1 to X16 are each independently H, a halogen atom, a linear, a branched or a cyclic alkyl group, a linear, a branched or a cyclic alkoxy group or a (substituted) aryl group, and each neighboring group selected from the X1 to X16 may mutually bonds each other with the substituting carbon atoms to form a (substituted) aliphatic carbon ring, (with the proviso that all of the each X1 to X16 is not H at the same time)].
