PURPOSE: A system and a method for controlling on-screen-display of a motion picture player are provided to offer a high quality OSD environment even with hardware of low specification. CONSTITUTION: A system for controlling on-screen-display of a motion picture player includes a storage(10) for storing OSD video data and OSD graphic data, a graphic generator(20) for generating an OSD graphic screen from the OSD graphic data, and a decoder(30) for selectively decoding the OSD video data stored in the storage and a stream from an external motion picture stream source according to a user's OSD selection. The system further includes a synthesizer(40) for synthesizing the output from the decoder with the output from the graphic generator, and a controller(50) for controlling the system. |
