PURPOSE: A device for protecting a movable disc of an information storage device from contamination is provided to protect an optical head and other mechanical components mounted on a flying slider from particles. CONSTITUTION: A head disc interface includes an optical head, a slider on which the optical head is mounted having a desired flying height from the surface of a disc(30), and a suspension for supporting the slider. A brush(50) is set such that the brush removes particles on the surface of the disc. The brush has an appropriate electrostatic force to absorb the particles on the surface of the disc. Voltage is applied to the brush to generate electrostatic force so as to absorb the particles on the disc surface, and the voltage is eliminated after the disc has passed the brush.
