STRUCTURE FOR PROTECTING OPTICAL HEAD OF INFORMATION STORAGE DEVICE

PURPOSE: A structure for protecting an optical head of an information storage device is provided to protect an optical or magnetic head of a head slider flying over the surface of a disc from contamination. CONSTITUTION: A head slider/disc interface includes an optical/magnetic head(20), a slider(30) having a leading edge, a trailing edge and an air bearing for forming a desired flying height from the surface of a disc, and a suspension for supporting the slider. There is formed a difference between the surface energy of the slider and the surface energy of the optical head in such a manner that the area surrounding the optical/magnetic head mounted on the slider has a large surface energy but the optical/magnetic head has a small surface energy.
