PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the efficiency of assembly of a filter case having a purifier material and to fully utilize the function of the purifier material in an electric water heater which purifies hot water. SOLUTION: A filter case 17 is provided with a cover case 18 for housing treating material 16 and a fitting case 19 for fitting the cover case 18. The cover case 18 and the fitting case 19 are partitioned with a filter 20, a liquid flow-in port 21 is formed near the upper center of the fitting case 19, and a liquid flow-out port 22 is formed near the lower outside. Thus, only a single filter 20 is required and the liquid flow-in port 21 and the liquid flow-out port 22 are separated from each other to sufficiently utilize the performance of the treating material 16.
