PURPOSE: An apparatus for automatically attaching/detaching a gas container of a portable gas range is provided to prevent the leakage of gas caused by careless operation, thereby obtaining the safety and convenience. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for automatically attaching/detaching a gas container of a portable gas range is composed of a working piece working back and forth by the up-down operation of a cartridge lever(10), and a cartridge guide making the gas container to be installed at a governor valve. The gas container is attached/detached with respect to the cartridge lever. A safety clutch plate(70) is installed in the knob front plate or a front body to pivotably move by a safety clutch spring. When the knob(50) moves clockwise to be close to an "OFF" position, the safety clutch plate(70) moves pivotably by an inner protrusion of the knob. When the knob(50) moves counterclockwise to be far from the "OFF" position, the safety clutch plate moves elastically to the original position.
