PURPOSE: A method for controlling defrosting of inverter refrigerator is provided to control defrosting at optimum condition. CONSTITUTION: A method includes the steps of: a step(203,204,205,206) calculating operating ratio of a compressor to accumulate until operating time of the compressor reaches a second time if the operating time reaches a first time and determining whether operating ratio during the second time zone is over 50% of the accumulated operating ratio when the operating time reaches the second time; a step(207,208,209) defrosting by applying maximum voltage flowing in a circuit of a refrigerator when the operating ratio during the second time zone is over the 50% of the accumulated operating ratio and controlling defrosting at a first level of the maximum voltage after fixed time has passed; a step accumulating the operating ratio until the operating time reaches a third time if the operating ratio is determined not over the accumulated operating ratio and determining whether the operating ratio during the third time zone is over 20% of accumulated operating ratio; a step defrosting at the first level of the maximum voltage if the operating ratio is over 20% of the accumulated operating ratio and controlling defrosting at a second level of the maximum voltage after fixed time has passed; a step accumulating until the operating time reaches a fourth time if the operating ratio is not over 20% of accumulated operating ratio and controlling defrosting at the second level of the maximum voltage when the operating time reached the fourth time; and a step completing defrosting control when temperature of a defrosting sensor is over set temperature correspondingly with the defrosting control.
