STRUCTURE FOR PROTECTING FLYING SLIDER OPTICAL HEAD FROM CONTAMINATION

PURPOSE: A structure for protecting a flying slider optical head from contamination is provided to protect the optical head from contaminants without considerably changing the design of the existing optical system to reduce generation of error in an optical information storage device. CONSTITUTION: A flying slider includes an optical head(20), a slider on which the optical head is mounted having a specific flying height from the surface of a disc, and a suspension for supporting the slider. The flying slider has a leading edge and a trailing edge and an air bearing for forming a desired flying height. The optical head is attached to the trailing edge of the slider. A fine groove(50) for inducing particles and accumulating the particles therein is formed in proximity to the optical head or the slider.
