PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for cutting-off a cutting off object, by which the object can be accurately cut-off using a cutting blade by uniformly clamping the object through a filler having flowability even if the object cannot afford a sufficient claming area because of undulation formed thereon. SOLUTION: The object 2 to be cut-off, such as a circuit substrate, is arranged between a plurality of electrode plates 1 arranged almost in parallel with each other so as to face each other. The gap between the electrode plates 1, on which the object 2 to be cut-off is arranged, is filled with the magnetic filler 3 having flowability, such as powder or fluid. The object 2 to be cut-off arranged between the electrode plates 1 is clamed through compacting and solidifying the magnetic filler 3 by generating a magnetic field between the electrode plates 1. The clamed object 2 to be cut-off is cut-off using a cutting blade 42.
