PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure that a needle threader provided with a hook descends while rotating and inserting the hook into a needle's eye as a series of operations by lowering an operating lever, and simplify the structure and minimize the number of parts. SOLUTION: In a sewing machine equipped with a needle threader capable of passing thread through the eye 17a of a needle 17, the needle threader has a threading lowering process in which a threading member A provided with a hook 4b at the lower end of a vertical shaft portion 2 lowers through a manual operating member C to a lower needle threading enabling position for the hook 4b to enter the eye 17a from an upper initial position and a returning rising process in which the threading member rises to the upper initial position from the needle threading enabling position. The threading member A and the operating member C are returned upward and maintained in the initial position by a single elastic member 5.
