A multilayered sleeping bag comprises three layers of insulation having different insulation levels wherein each layer may be combined with each of the other two. The sleeping bag may further comprise a hood and/or a pillow with an integral neck protector. The hood and/or pillow may be integral to the sleeping bag or may be attached when required. In use, the sleeping bag may be readily adapted to a range of conditions and temperatures and any moisture formed within the sleeping bag is wicked to the atmosphere outside the bag.
