PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a purine receptor which is a new G protein conjugated receptor and its gene and provide a method for the screening, identification and characterization of a relating ligand and agonist (agonist or antagonist). SOLUTION: The polypeptide having a function or activity as a purine receptor is selected from (A), (B) and (C). (A) A polypeptide composed of a specific amino acid sequence, (B) a polypeptide of (A) wherein one or more amino acids are depleted, substituted or added in the amino acid sequence and (C) a polypeptide encoded by a nucleic acid or its complementary material hybridizable with a nucleic acid having a specific base sequence under stringent conditions. The invention further provides a nucleic acid encoding the polypeptide, a recombinant vector and a host cell containing the nucleic acid, a method for detecting the function or activity of the polypeptide by using the vector, etc., and a method for the screening or identification of a ligand or an agonist of the polypeptide. |
