PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circulating filtration-type fish-and-shellfish cultivation system capable of preventing trouble occurrence in a circulating pump and removing ammonia and insoluble suspended matter at low investment cost. SOLUTION: This system has the following structure: a suspended matter- removing tank 3 for filtering and removing suspended matter in the water fed from a fish-and-shellfish rearing water tank 1, a nitrification tank 4 for making a nitrification treatment of ammonia components in the water and a circulating pump 5 for feeding the nitrification tank 4 with the water filtered at the tank 3, are installed along a circulating line 2; wherein the suspended matter-removing tank 3 is composed of a 1st chamber 6 communicating with the water tank 1 and a 2nd chamber 7 with the circulating pump 5 connected thereto, and also includes a filter 8 for filtering the suspended matter at the boundary between the 1st chamber 6 and the 2nd chamber 7, and further includes a means 9 for detecting the cloggings of the filter 8 on sensing the water level of the 2nd chamber 7 and a means 10 for washing the filter 8 in response to the detection of the cloggings by the means 9.
