The visor (10) for a crash helmet has a central hinge (19) to attach it to the helmet so that when raised it is held against wind pressure. The visor is automatically moved to a rest position dependent on signals from wind pressure sensors. The visor mounting allows the force of gravity to oppose the wind force. The mounting can include a peripheral screen for attachment of the visor to the helmet.
