PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable assaying protein mannosyltransferase(PMT) having a high treating capacity and to provide a system for screening a PMT activity-inhibitor; more specifically, to provide a new method for assaying protein mannosyltransferase activity capable of catalyzing the transfer of mannose from dolichyl phosphoryl mannose, a donor glycolipid, to a peptide, a receptor, and to provide an agent or a compound inhibiting protein mannosyltransferase activity. SOLUTION: (a) Protein mannosyltransferase(PMT), dolichyl phosphoryl mannose and a receptor peptide are simultaneously brought into contact with each other under conditions appropriate for the PMT enzyme activity. In this treatment, the dolichyl phosphoryl mannose is taken into a monolayer phospholipid vehicle. Subsequently, (b) the amount of the formed glycosylated receptor peptide is measured. Through these steps, the protein mannosyltransferase activity is determined.
