PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hydrocyanic acid gas removing material which does not contain chrome but by which hydrocyanic acid gas can be removed efficiently, and to provide a method for manufacturing the hydrocyanic acid gas removing material. SOLUTION: The hydrocyanic acid gas removing material is obtained by impregnating a copper compound in activated carbon having 900-1,200 m<2> /g specific surface area and then heating the copper-impregnated activated carbon and has the function of effectively removing cyanogen gas to be generated at the step to remove hydrocyanic acid gas.
